I joined the School of Law at the University of Leeds in January 2009 as Lecturer in Criminology and Criminal Justice, having previously been a DPhil student and Research Officer at the Centre for Criminology, University of Oxford.

Having recently relocated to Trondheim in Norway, I now work as a Visiting Research Fellow with colleagues at the Centre for Criminal Justice Studies.

Scholarly and Research Interests

My current research explores 'ultimate penalties' and the question of how societies respond to their most serious crimes.

My research interests span the areas of life imprisonment, the death penalty, desistance from crime, the reintegration of sex offenders, victims and the criminal justice system and youth crime and justice.
