Ms Ann Blair
Senior Lecturer

Following a successful career in the voluntary sector, I studied law as a mature student. I was appointed as a lecturer at Leeds in 1994 and senior lecturer in 2007.
I am on the editorial board of Education and the Law. I am also an active trade unionist and am currently seconded half time to trade union duties as President of Leeds UCU.
Scholarly and Research Interests
I have conducted research into many aspects of education law.
This has included SEN and disability discrimination, the legal control of sex education with a focus on the regulation of risk, the relationship between children's and parental rights in education, home-school agreements and religious discrimination in schools.
Teaching
My principal teaching interests are employment law and discrimination law, but I have also taught property subjects throughout most of my career at Leeds, latterly concentrating on equity and trusts.
PhD Supervision
I am interested in supervising any topics connected with education law but particularly those that relate to children's and parental rights in education.
I welcome proposals on topics relating to education as a social right and discrimination in education.
