Sarah Blandy
Reader in Property Law

After graduating in law from the University of Warwick, I qualified and practised as a solicitor for ten years before embarking on an academic career. I joined the University of Leeds in 2005, having previously worked at Sheffield Hallam University.
I am Chair of the School of Law's Equality and Diversity Committee.
Scholarly and Research Interests
My research is interdisciplinary and empirical, focusing on socio-legal aspects of residential property law, including:
- tenure and rights
- multi-owned property
- the interaction of family and property law
- regulation of conduct, dispute resolution, and access to justice, amongst residential occupiers
- legal consciousness amongst residential occupiers
- the spatial boundaries of law.
Teaching
I teach on the core modules of advanced legal research in the second year, and equity and trusts in the final year. I also teach in the broad area of property law.
In addition to teaching I also supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations.
PhD Supervision
I would be very pleased to supervise MRes and PhD students on any topic relating to my research interests and expertise.
