I graduated from the University of Leeds (LLB) in 2003 and the University of Oxford (MSc Criminology and Criminal Justice) in 2004. I taught at Manchester Metropolitan University for one year (2004-05), before returning to Leeds as a lecturer in 2005.

In addition to my teaching I am the Director of the Legal Advice Clinic. I also oversee the School's widening participation and pro bono activities and agenda.  I was awarded a University Teaching Fellowship in 2009 to assist in the further development of pro bono activities and I am currently (2011-12) undertaking a review of the School's pro bono provision.

I am a member of the School's School Management Team, the Taught Student Education Committee, the Faculty Admissions and Widening Participation Committee and the School's Staff-Student Forum.

I also work with the following external organisations, amongst others:

  • Ford and Warren Solicitors
  • Henry Hyams Solicitors
  • Leeds Older People's Forum
  • The African Prison Project
