I qualified as a solicitor in 1986, and I specialised in company and commercial work working in private practice and industry.

I gained an LLM from Leeds University in 2004. I have lectured here since 2005, focusing on teaching company and finance related modules.

Scholarly and Research Interests

I am interested in the law and regulation of financial services and banking law, and in the curtailment of financial risk through regulation and hard and soft law methods.

I also have an interest in the structure of the financial services industry and its social and political context.

I am a member of the Staff Student forum.

I sit on the University Committee for Enterprise in Teaching and Learning.

Teaching

I teach undergraduate modules on company law, introduction to company law, legal skills, corporate finance and banking and financial services.

PhD Supervision

I am currently supervising two PhDs which relate to banking and financial services.
