Dr Richard Peake
Lecturer in Criminology & Criminal Justice

I attended Hull University in 1999, following a 23 year career as an Intelligence Officer in the RAF.
I obtained a first class BA in Social Policy and Criminology in 2002 and moved on to complete a PhD in 2008.
During this time, I taught at the Universities of Hull and Sunderland, before taking up my current post here at Leeds in 2006.
I also worked as a research officer with Cardiff University in 2004, studying prisoner resettlement.
Scholarly and Research Interests
My research interests are in the prison system, particularly long-term prisoners and the private sector.
Teaching
I teach a foundation level module that introduces 'Criminal Justice' to aspiring students and coordinate the 'Study Skills' module for first year students.
I also teach the second year core modules 'Youth Crime and Justice' and 'Criminological Research Methods', and 'Penology' in year three.
I also coordinate and deliver two post-graduate modules: 'Researching Criminal Justice' and 'Comparative Penal Policies'.
