Dr Anashri Pillay
Lecturer in Law

I studied law at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Durban, South Africa) before taking up an academic post in the Faculty of Law at the University of Cape Town (UCT). In 1999, I completed an LLM in Public Law at University College London (UCL). I returned to South Africa and taught in the Department of Public Law at UCT for a number of years.
In 2006, I was awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship to study for a PhD at UCL. My thesis examined the adjudication of social and economic rights in South Africa, India and the United Kingdom. I joined the School of Law at Leeds in 2011.
Scholarly and Research Interests
My research interests are in human rights (social and economic rights, in particular), administrative law and constitutional law.
Teaching
I teach Constitutional Law, Legal Skills, Jurisprudence and International Law.
PhD Supervision
I would be happy to supervise students whose research falls within my areas of interest, as listed above.
