I joined the School of Law in 2010.  However, I have been teaching at the University since 2001 (firstly as a Teaching Assistant and later as a Part-time Lecturer in the School of Politics and Intenational Studies).  In 2005 and 2006 I also worked as a Research Officer on the ESRC funded project 'Holistic Security in a Fragmented Governance Structure'.

Previously, I had a short legal career before retraining as a teacher.  Since gaining my PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status in 1998, I have worked in various teaching positions, firstly in secondary schools, then in the further education sector and, more recently, in higher education.

Scholarly and Research Interests

Currently, my key areas of research are organised crime and illicit enterprise, particularly in Spain, but also in Europe more generally.  I also have an interest in Spanish politics, policing and law.

Teaching

At undergraduate level, I currently teach on the following modules:

  • Contract Law
  • Family Law
  • Legal Skills
  • Understanding Crime

At postgraduate level, I teach Research Methods and Generic Training and Skills.

I also supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, and I am the personal tutor/advisor for international students in the School of Law.
