Dr Sophia Tang
I joined the University of Leeds in March 2012. Before that I taught law at the University of Aberdeen. I am an associate of the Centre of Private International Law at the University of Aberdeen.
I am a barrister in England and Wales and an accredited civil and commercial mediator. I join the expert roster of the Transparency International UK as an expert in Chinese market and anti-commercial corruption in China.
Scholarly and Research Interests
My main research lies in the area of private international law and cross-border dispute resolution in civil and commercial matters. My current research interests include:
- Jurisdiction, choice of law and recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments in cross-border civil and commercial matters;
- European harmonisation of private international law;
- International commercial arbitration;
- Private international law in electronic consumer contracts;
- Commercial corruption in private international law;
- Private international law in the People’s Republic of China.
I am interested in supervising PhD students in the area of private international law in civil and commercial matters.
