Professor Peter Vincent-Jones
Professor of Law

I have teaching and research interests in the areas of public law, socio-legal studies, and contract.
I have published extensively on public contracts, housing, and public management issues from a socio-legal perspective in a wide range of journals.
Over the past twenty years I have developed particular expertise in the privatisation and contractualisation of public services in the UK and Europe.
I am currently engaged in a five year research project comparing patterns of health care reform in Britain, France, and Hungary, as part of a larger integrated project under the 6th Framework Programme in Research and Development, 'Reflexive Governance in the Public Interest', involving 28 partner institutions across Europe.
Scholarly and Research Interests
My research interests are in the following areas:
- Socio-legal studies.
- Governance and regulation, multi-level governance, human services regulation.
- Public sector contracting. Restructuring of local government, health and human services sectors. Public and private aspects of contract. Central-local government relations.
- Contracting in business practice.
- Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution in business disputes. Comparative European business disputing.
- Housing law and policy. Socio-legal analysis of Landlord and Tenant law. Squatting.
