Dr Julie Wallbank
Senior Lecturer

My writing mainly concerns the legal regulation of family life.
My monograph Challenging Motherhood(s) (Pearson Education, 2001) provided a Foucauldian analysis of the social and legal construction of parenthood in the early to mid 1990s.
I have also written on the law relating to reproductive technologies, focussing particularly on the parenthood provisions.
I have analysed the low conviction rates in rape cases where victim and alleged perpetrator are known to each other.
Scholarly and Research Interests
My current research concerns parental responsibility, rights, gender, social class, residence and contact disputes.
