The lecture willbe given by Professor Lawrence Sherman, University of Cambridge.  The response will be given by Sir Norman Bettison, Chief Constable, West Yorkshire Police.

The lecture will consider how the 'earthquakes' of sudden changes coming to the police landscape will affect the slow-moving 'glacial' changes of education, research, technology and culture in the relationship of democracy and the rule of law in policing England and Wales.

The lecture will be followed by a wine reception.
