Centre for Criminal Justice Studies Postgraduate Research Students’ Conference

20 June 2013 | 10:00h to 16:30h | Conference
G.33 Liberty Building

This conference provides those postgraduate research students attached to the Centre for Criminal Justice Studies with the opportunity to present papers drawing on their PhD studies. The conference offers a supportive environment in which students can receive feedback from staff and students on the ideas and arguments presented.

In total, nine students will present papers on a range of criminological and criminal justice topics, covering various types of crime and victimisation, as well as formal and informal responses to crime of state and civil society organisations. Broad topics to be discussed include researching sexual violence, transnational crime and fear of crime.

The plenary address for the conference is to be given by Professor Sandra Walklate, Eleanor Rathbone, Chair of Sociology at Liverpool University. Professor Walklate’s presentation is entitled ‘Just part of life: interconnecting research with biography’, and will draw on her outstanding track-record of conducting important empirical research studies to offer insights for how the next generation of criminological researchers can develop their own research agendas.
