This research seminar will focus on the impact of association agreements on legal, political and social systems in the relevant countries.

Professor Dr. Roman Petrov (Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Ukraine)

‘The impact of the new generation of the EU's association agreements on legal, political and social systems in the countries of the Eastern Partnership’

Roman Petrov holds a Jean Monnet Chair in EU Law and is Head of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. In his talk he will focus on the contemporary state of “Europeanisation” and future impact of Association Agreements on the countries of the Eastern Partnership.

Dr Kataryna Wolczuk (University of Birmingham)

‘EU's export of rules to the Eastern neighbourhood: What Prospects for the Association Agreements?’

Kataryna Wolczuk is Reader in Politics and International Studies and Deputy Director of the Centre for Russian and East European Studies. In her presentation she will ask ‘How and to what extent does the EU influence its neighbours to the East?’.
