Cross-border Insolvency Law: Reconciling the Global and the Local?

28 October 2014 | 16:00-17:00 | Seminar
Room 2.46, The Liberty Building

Business is global and yet law is local. What are some of the issues that a local insolvency law needs to address when a global business is bankrupt?

This seminar will address the Australian cross-border insolvency laws, including avenues to facilitate cooperation and coordination between concurrent proceedings. It will also discuss a case currently on appeal process that deals with the vexed question of local tax claims against funds pending remission to the foreign COMI where such claims are not admissible.

Professor Rosalind Mason (Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia)

Attendence is free for this event and there is no requirement to pre-book.
