The Right to Health: Global Challenges and Opportunities

Professor Dainius Puras (The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right of Everyone to the Enjoyment of the Highest Attainable Standard of Physical and Mental Health)

Professor Puras will reflect on the interpretation and history of the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health. He will also draw upon the experiences he has gained in the role to date (he took up the mandate in August 2014). He will also discuss his vision for the future on issues including ones arising from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

This lecture will be responded to by John Harrington, Professor of Global Health Law at Cardiff Law School.


Attendence for this event is free but registration is required via Eventbrite.

This event is hosted jointly by the Centre for Disability Studies and the Law and Social Justice Research Group.

Refreshments will be available from 5:30pm.
