A thriving city

The city of Leeds, the UK’s second largest combined commercial and legal centre, provides an exciting background for your postgraduate studies with its vibrant business and legal communities.

Leeds is a cosmopolitan city with a friendly community from multicultural and multi-faith backgrounds. This is reflected in the diversity of the city's restaurants and international supermarkets.

It is a major shopping destination and centre for entertainment, nightlife, the arts and leisure. Musically, Leeds offers a huge variety that is hard to beat. There are lots of live music venues including the Leeds Arena and the university's own Refectory, where some of the UK's most popular bands regularly perform.

Leeds and the surrounding area

The city is also one of the greenest with more parkland than any other European city. Leave the city and within thirty minutes, you will find yourself in open countryside. Leeds is within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales, the Peak District, the Lake District and historic towns such as York, Harrogate, and Ripon. Plus, it's just over two hours to London and Edinburgh by train.
