Studying at the School of Law means you study in a rich and cosmopolitan atmosphere.
How many international students do we teach?
More than 100 international students choose the School of Law at the University of Leeds for their undergraduate or postgraduate studies, every year.
We currently teach around 165 international undergraduate students, sixty-five taught postgraduates and thirty postgraduate research students.
Where do our international students come from?
Our school has extremely strong connections to other countries.
Our academics make regular trips to Africa, Asia and the Far East to talk to young students about higher education and law at Leeds.
Every year, around 50 Malaysian students come directly into year two or three of our LLB programme through partnership arrangements with INTI University College, HELP University College and Taylor's University College.
Our present cohort includes students from Asia and the Far East. We have students from China, Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei and Indonesia.
Our African students currently come from Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
We also have students from the Middle East and the Gulf: Jordan, Kuwait, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman.
Our students also come from Canada and the USA and the West Indies, and all EU countries and Turkey.
And, increasingly, students from Russia and the former states of USSR, such as Georgia and Azerbaijan, are applying to study at the School of Law.
What do our international students study?
The majority of our international students study LLB Law.
Our postgraduate courses have a clear international orientation in their approach.
Our international postgraduate students find our business and commercial law courses extremely valuable, as Anglo-American commercial law is the global mechanism for international transactions.
Other popular courses at postgraduate level include International Law and Intellectual Property Law.
Our Masters course in International and Comparative Criminal Justice also attracts international students, including serving police officers.
