Dr Amrita Mukherjee on the role of the European Court of Human Rights

As Abu Qatada's lawyers appeal to the European Court of Human Rights following the Government's attempt at deportation, Dr Amrita Mukerjee talks to BBC Radio about the role of the Court.

In an interview with BBC Radio Leeds, Dr Amrita Mukherjee, lecturer from the School of Law and specialist in international human rights law speaks about the purpose of the European Court of Human Rights and reforms that the British Government and other states hope to make.

Dr Mukerjee comments on the on-going issue of the reform of the Court and gives her thoughts on the implications of reducing the legal capacity and power of the Court of Human Rights in making final judgements.
