The School of Law played host to Robert Ivens, Head of Legal for Marks and Spencer, on 15 March.

Robert spoke on “The life and times of an M&S in-house lawyer” including an overview of the diverse work involved in his role and looking in depth at the Interflora v Marks & Spencer judgment of the ECJ.  Professor Steven Wheatley said that it had been a “very interesting talk, which had highlighted many of the interesting and challenging aspects of the in-house role.”

Both Robert and Steven later attended the formal dinner to celebrate the opening of the Michael Marks Building - M&S Company Archive, located opposite the University of Leeds' School of Law on Western Campus.
