Alumni Alison Saunders named as the next Director of Public Prosecutions
Barrister Alison Saunder has been named as the next Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Currently Chief Crown Prosecutor for London, Alison graduated from Leeds in 1982 having studied Law.
Alison will take over from Keir Starmer QC when he stands down in the autumn. Keir is also a Leeds alumni, having graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 1985.
Alison’s appointment as DPP has welcomed by leading criminal practitioners including Stephen Parkinson, head of criminal law at Kingsley Napley, who described her as “a first class lawyer with great experience and a thorough understanding of the way the CPS works”.
