Dr Peter Whelan appointed ‘International Expert’ by the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority
Dr Peter Whelan, Deputy Director of the Centre for Criminal Justice Studies has been appointed as an International Expert by the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (FCCA).
Dr Whelan, who is an Associate Professor in Law was appointed in this role in November 2013. He is charged with drafting a report on the use of criminal cartel sanctions which will later be used by the FCCA to determine whether it should advocate the introduction of such sanctions in Finland.
Dr Whelan will present his findings in Finland in 2014, and the resultant report will be publicly available.
Dr Whelan’s research on cartel criminalisation forms the substance of his forthcoming book The Criminalization of European Cartel Enforcement: Theoretical, Legal, and Practical Challenges, which will be published in 2014 by Oxford University Press as part of their series Oxford Studies in European Law.
