Dr Subhajit Basu discusses cyber surveillance on ITV Calendar News

11 February 2015 |

Associate Professor in Information Technology Law, Dr Subhajit Basu, has recently appeared on ITV Calendar news to discuss David Cameron’s calls to remove obstacles to cyber surveillance.

Dr Basu’s interview addressed some of the issues surrounding the creation of a comprehensive legislative framework for cyber surveillance with regards to national security. He argued that despite there being the capacity for the interception of transmissions at locations such as RAF Menwith Hill in North Yorkshire, a legal framework for blanket surveillance would be a disproportionate response to the current problems and would ultimately have a detrimental effect on freedom.
