“A tax on gender” - Leeds Research Student comments on controversial ‘tampon tax’

30 October 2015 |

School of Law PhD candidate Michael Randall has discussed ‘Why the ‘tampon tax’ is so hard to lift and what can be done?’ on independent news website The Conversation.

Wide spread debate has opened on this topic as a result of the recent rejection by MPs to scrap the 5% VAT rate on sanitary products.

As well as discussing the difficulty for the government to make changes to this, Michael suggests what both campaigners and retailers can do to make a positive social impact. His article in particular has opened up much discussion online.
