Dr Stylianou weighs in on the repeal of the net neutrality rules in the US

In an op-ed published in the LSE Media Policy Blog Dr Stylianou argues that the end of the net neutrality rules in the US will not signify the end of the open internet as feared. Despite wide speculation on ISP's ability and incentives to engage in practices that would threaten the open internet, only very few confirmed cases have been documented in the last 15 years. The repeal of the relevant rules and their replacement with more light-touch forms of regulation will not only not harm the internet ecosystem, but will likely ease the burden of compliance and enforcement both for businesses and for regulators.
