Young offenders and emotional intelligence

I am investigating whether young people between the ages of 10 and 18 have an emotional intelligence level that is reflected in the seriousness or frequency of their offending.

I am using an emotional intelligence questionnaire, developed for Australia for adolescents, with all young people being placed on Supervision Orders by the courts, and following this up with qualitative interviews with Looked After young people in the cohort, and those scoring the top and bottom 10%.

This will look further at their views about their victims, and how much they can empathise for them or feel emotion about what they have done.
