Chienye Nnenna Monica Chukwu
I am a postgraduate on the LLM International Corporate Law. I attained my first degree in Law from a Nigerian university after which I practised as a lawyer in a law firm for three years.
I am also a part –qualified student member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administration, UK and currently a staff in the Complaints Resolution Team at Santander Cards, UK .
My motivation to study in the School of Law
I have always been and still am, interested in International Company Law practice and Corporate Governance and wanted to fulfil my dream to study in a renowned UK university.
I chose this programme because the School of Law, University of Leeds is ranked among the best in the UK and is known for its collaboration with other research centres as well as the corporate industry. The University is also known for its high academic standards.
I have had a memorable and exciting time at the University. The staff, both academic and non-academic were so supportive. During my period of study, I met and made new friends from different countries and backgrounds.
International Corporate Law is a course which cuts across virtually all sections in the corporate world. It equips you to fit properly into any role in the corporate industry.
The school’s high profile staff were at hand to offer all forms of academic advice and monitor our personal progress through their feedbacks. This helped me make informed decisions especially in writing of my course works and choice of a career path.
The facilities in place such as the library, the clusters, refectory, art gallery, the career centre, magnificent buildings, and its proximity to the city centre made my stay conducive and worthwhile.
Life in Leeds
Leeds is a cosmopolitan city with historic monuments ranging from the museums, lakes, parks, to a city centre where one can find whatever one needs.
The course has provided me with knowledge of how the corporate industry operates in reality and has also helped me to develop my writing and communication skills with respect to drafting of legal papers, documents and opinions which I find relevant in my daily activities especially at work.
The part I find most intriguing is my ability to now think analytically and its applicability to my job. Thanks to my personal tutor and supervisor.
I would definitely say to anyone who wants to go for this course that he or she has made a right decision. I am proud to be a graduate of this noble citadel of learning.
