Please tell us a bit about yourself and your background.

I am a second year student studying Criminal Justice and Criminology. I am originally from London, I have a great interest in the Criminal Justice system and always have done, but have had many other hobbies as well such as my involvement in dance from a young age.

What motivated you to apply to study your chosen course and why did you chose Leeds?

I originally became interested in Criminology because I studied Forensic Psychology in my Psychology A-level. The course at Leeds stood out because it was not just Criminology it involved the criminal justice aspects as well. After visiting Leeds I really loved the look of the city and the student life really appealed to me.

What do you think of your course, have there been any particular highlights for you?

I still really enjoy the course, it is very diverse in the modules that it offers us. First year was a highlight for me, because there was a range of different subjects, I particularly enjoyed the criminal law and the forensic psychology modules.

How would you describe the help and guidance provided by the staff within the School?

The School of Law are extremely helpful and always highlight to the students that they are there to help with anything, academic or otherwise. The staff provide great guidance when it comes to academic work and there are many opportunities for further help if you need it.

How would you describe the facilities at the University?

The facilities at the University are very impressive in my opinion, they are constantly trying to improve things around the University in all the different schools. The Union is one of the best and the library facilities are very impressive.

Have you been involved in extra-curricular activities, such as societies, summer placements etc?

In first year I was part of the Ballet society and took part in regular ballet classes. For over a year now I have been a mentor as part of the IntoUniversity mentoring scheme, where I mentor an individual and we do different activities as a pair and in a group and I act as a role model to the young people.
