About Me

I am from Preston. I studied A levels at Runshaw College in Leyland.

Why I chose Law with Australian Legal Studies at Leeds

I wanted to apply for Law as I enjoyed it at A Level and wanted to pursue the subject in more depth at third level. I chose Leeds because of the exciting and friendly atmosphere on campus and for the opportunities to study abroad.

My Course

I have enjoyed company law and criminal law the most so far as I have found them the most interesting as they allow you to relate your studies to everyday life. I am excited to study law in Brisbane as I know it will be an amazing experience, and hopefully it will make my training contract applications stand out.

University Facilities and School Support

The facilities are up to date and easy to use. There is every resource you need in the Law School or in any one of the three University libraries. Staff are very helpful especially if you are struggling to find what you need yourself.

Student support is excellent, especially Marika Hildebrandová the careers coordinator. She goes above and beyond whenever you need advice about CVs or work experience opportunities.

Outside of Studying

There are lots of extra-curricular opportunities to get involved with, which are provided by the School of Law. I participated in the Legal Advice Clinic this year. This was not only great fun but it gave me invaluable hands on experience of the work of solicitors which will greatly enhance my CV and employability prospects.

Leeds as a city

Leeds as a city is amazing. There is always something to do, especially for students studying law. There are so many opportunities to gain work experience and network with some of the top legal firms that are based in the city. Many operate both nationally and internationally.

My advice to prospective students

My advice would be to make sure that you get involved in as many societies and extra-curricular activities as you can. They are a great way to meet new people, look great on your cv, and ensures that you have a great time making the most of what Leeds has to offer.

My Future

I aim to get a training contract when I finish my course and hopefully the skills I have developed during my time at Leeds will enable me to do so successfully.
