Dr Eszter Párkányi
I joined the Centre for Criminal Justice Studies in February 2017. I completed my PhD research at the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. My thesis provided a comparative analysis on European juvenile justice systems, paying special attention to the implementation of children’s rights’ requirements. Before joining the University of Leeds I worked with several non-governmental organisations in Hungary and in the Netherlands.
Currently I am working with Professor Anthea Hucklesby on various projects about social care in prison, electronic monitoring and using technology to support the rehabilitation of offenders.
My research interests include children’s rights, comparative criminal justice, juvenile justice, discrimination and social exclusion of Roma, labour exploitation and human trafficking.
