LLM International Trade Law | 2011 - 2012

I applied to the University of Leeds because of its excellent reputation and because it was recommended to me by my employer. Before starting my LLM in International Trade Law I took a 10 week pre-sessional course in Academic English. The course is one of several offered by the University’s Language Centre and I would really recommend these courses to other international students. It was very useful for me, especially as legal language can be quite difficult!

Over the 10 weeks I learned how to give presentations and write essays. I also received a lot of advice about adapting to life in the UK. Other international students enrolled on my programme had also signed up for the pre-sessional course, so we worked together, got to know each other and became really good friends.

The International Office has been very supportive – they are always happy to help and I go to them if I ever have any problems. They run the Global Café every Monday during term time. It takes place in the Lounge in the student’s union and it is a chance to relax and meet friends from all over the world – I’m always there!
