William Ho

LLB Law | 1983 - 1986

William came to England from Hong Kong in 1983 as an undergraduate student with the Faculty of Law at the University of Leeds.  With thanks to Mr. Peter Seago, he was admitted as a law student through the UCCA clearing system.  This was a life changing opportunity (from a prospective accountant to a lawyer).

Arriving in a totally strange country and studying a law degree, William most certainly needed a lot of help.  This was exactly what he got from the quality teaching of the Professors and lecturers in the Faculty.  William was a student of Professor Clive Walker in the subject of Constitutional Law.  The teaching standard was high and the facilities in the Faculty of Law were second to none.  William spent a lot of time in the law library.

William received his LLB (Hons) degree in 1986 and pursued his Law Society Final Examinations at Guildford College of Law.

With the good foundation of the law degree he studied at the University, William managed to find employment in Leeds.  As a foreigner, it was a big achievement to find a training contract.  Thanks to the excellent opportunity the University gave him.

William qualified in 1989 and from then on, has never looked back.  Having gained sufficient experience and confidence in the legal profession, William set up his own law firm called “William Ho & Co” in Leeds in 1996.  In 2000, William merged with another city centre law firm to become “Burton Burton & Ho”.

William is now the Managing Partner of the Practice.  The Faculty of Law at the University of Leeds set William on his successful pathway as a solicitor in England.  He now provides legal advice to businesses stretching from Yorkshire to China.  There is a saying in Chinese ‘Always remember the origin of your source of water when you feel thirsty!’
