MA by Research

About the MA by research

If you have a longstanding interest or connections in a particular legal field, possibly related to your occupation or other significant experience, then an MA by Research may be suitable for you.

Duration

  • Full-time: one year.
  • Part-time: two years.

Structure

This type of study works through close one-to-one supervision, tailored specifically to the needs of the project and the student. You research and write a thesis of approximately 30,000 words on a subject of your choice. The School offers no broad research training for students that register for this degree. MA by Research candidates are not eligible for transfer to MPhil or PhD.

Brian Hogan Scholarship

The School of Law has a scholarship available for students wishing to undertake a project in the fields of either Criminal Justice or Criminal Law for a one year research MA.
