LLM Cyberlaw: Information Technology, Law and Society course content
This course has three compulsory modules. You also choose another two or three optional modules to complete your programme.
Compulsory modules
Cybercrime: Computers and Crime in the Information Age explores the key issues that relate to cybercrime and the governance of cyberspace. It will identify the main areas of harmful activity that concern us, it will outline the pluralist/multi-tiered policing/governance model that has already developed and it will explore the fight for control over the environment of cyberspace and the way that it is shaping the cybercrime debates. It will also explore the role of law within that framework of control.
Cyberlaw: Law and the Regulation of the Information Society critically examines the emerging trends that signify the formation of the information society and also its relationship with law, technology, and public policy. The module comprehensively covers UK and European Law along with a variety of international regulatory perspectives that seek to harmonise law.
Research Methods focuses on the mechanics of the research process: how to formulate research questions, design research strategies and generally go about the process of 'researching.'
In the Dissertation you will identify a research topic in CyberLaw and, with the aid of a supervisor, develop it into a research question. The research is written up in the form of a dissertation of not more than 15,000 words.
