LLM International Law
If you want to ...
- explore the globalisation of governance
- investigate issues of jurisdiction, territory and self-determination
- examine the impact of international law on the 'war on terror'
- analyse international human rights protection
- study the legal regime on the prohibition of torture
... then LLM International Law is the course for you.
LLM International Law gives you the opportunity to develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of the essential elements of international law as a distinct legal system.
The course offers you the opportunity to pursue particular areas of interest in one of the many areas of the subject. It will help you understand the role that bodies such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organisation play in the international arena as well as the decisions and advisory opinions of the International Court of Justice ('the World Court').
You will investigate and apply the complex rules of international law to novel problems, real-world and hypothetical scenarios, and critically evaluate the legal rules and underlying policies concerning international law.
Teaching takes an innovative and often non-traditional approach that analyses the transformation of the international legal system towards a new world order. The modules provide comprehensive guidance and insight into an important and relatively recent body of practice that is transforming the way that international organisations are considered.
