BA/LLB Law and Accounting

If you want to ...
- learn about the law
- think like a lawyer
- understand the principles underlying accountancy
- defer the decision to graduate with a qualifying law degree or specialise in accountancy until halfway through your course
... then BA/LLB Law and Accounting is the programme for you.
BA/LLB Law and Accounting is a four year degree that the School of Law runs in cooperation with the Leeds University Business School. The course allows you to study accountancy alongside law.
For the first two years, you divide your time equally between the two disciplines. In the third and fourth years, you may choose to specialise in either discipline or may choose to maintain an equal balance between the two.
If you choose to obtain a 'qualifying law degree', then you transfer to an LLB in Law and Accounting, and you weigh the modules you choose in favour of law.
If you wish to pursue a career in accountancy, you can continue on the BA programme and maintain a more equal balance between accountancy and law in your third and fourth years.
The course provides you with the ability to learn about the law, both in the traditional sense of 'thinking like a lawyer' and in the broader sense of law as a social institution.
You also have the opportunity to develop a solid and practicable working knowledge of financial and management accounting concepts and techniques.
