Gender Employment Equality in Japan - EU Law as a Model?

Yoko Kuroiwa is a Japanese PhD researcher working on EU sex discrimination law and is also a legal practitioner. In the latter role she has handled several cases of discrimination against women workers or atypical workers.

Her presentation will give valuable insights into sex equality in employment in Japan. She will also discuss how far gender inequality develops into a common problem under the global economy, aiming to discuss the potential of EU non-discrimination law to serve as a model.

This research seminar will be of interest to all working on issues of gender equality in employment in a globalising economy. We are aiming at an informal atmosphere which will facilitate identifying common research interests and establishing first steps towards international cooperation.
