A study of police interactions with mentally disordered detainees.

This mixed-methods research seeks to look at how police officers and civilian staff, alongside other professionals who enter the custody suite in the process of their duty, interact and effectively safeguard the mentally disordered. The main focus is to ask how police officers and custody suite staff interact with regulations, policies and procedures relating to those detainees who are known, or thought to be mentally disordered.
