Planned Submission Date: 01 January 2015

I am completing a mixed method research project exploring the resettlement experience of older prisoners. Older as defined as being over 40 although this is young for the general population. This age has been chosen as prisoners' physical and psychological fitness deteriorates sooner. They also have different biographies, and family structures and responsibilities.

Information will be gathered on prisoners' plans for release, the concerns they have, and how current resettlement services in prison help them prepare for release. Questionnaires will supply much of the information but will be enhanced by semi structured interviews. It is hoped that the finished project will influence prison services locally but also prompt larger changed in policy for older prisoners.
