What is Access to Leeds?
The School of Law is committed to widening access to ensure we admit those who have the potential to study at the University of Leeds regardless of background. Through the Access to Leeds scheme, we wish to identify applicants who may not have been able to demonstrate their academic potential as readily as others.
Access to Leeds is the University of Leeds' alternative entry scheme. The scheme guarantees special consideration for applicants whose personal circumstances may affect their ability to succeed at levels normally expected by admissions tutors. Successful applicants receive an alternative offer alongside a standard offer. We welcome applications from students who meet the eligibility criteria and have the potential to study at the University of Leeds.
To be eligible, you need to meet two or more of the following criteria.
- Be in receipt of an Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA) of £20 or £30 a week
- Be in the first generation of immediate family to apply to Higher Education
- Attend a school which achieved less than 45% 5 A to C passes (including English and Maths) at GCSE
- Only option is to attend a local university
- Studies disrupted by circumstances in their personal, social or domestic lives
- Living or grew up in Public Care
Applicants will still have to complete the study skills assignment and the School may ask some Access to Leeds applicants to complete the subject skills assignment if further evidence is required of academic potential.
